Chris Scribner (17) grew up surrounded by death in his family. His older sister died in a car accident when he was 9. His cousin, who was his best friend, also died in a car accident when he was 14. Now his younger sister is fighting multiple tumors. How can one family cope with so much death? Through tragedy, Chris’ family finds strength to stay positive.

Laura Rangel (17) arrived in Little Rock, Arkansas from Mexico at age 6. Meeting and living with her biological parents for the first time, Laura had high hopes for achieving the “American Dream.” However, she faced many obstacles in American schools such as bullying.

Is Laura’s life in America really a dream come true?
